MASTERS IN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

Educational Technology? What is that exactly?
This is by far the most common question I am asked when I talk to people about my Masters in Educational Technology degree from Boise State University. And to be honest, it's not always the easiest question to answer, as the field encompasses a wide variety of specializations and applications. But as the name indicates, educational technology always concerns a link between technology and education.
Essentially, that is exactly what an educational technologist is: a link. In the past, when innovations were as simple to grasp as a piece of chalk, no further expertise was necessary for educators to use technology effectively. This is no longer the case. Educational technology addresses the need to study and utilize the increasingly complex innovations that technology affords, not for technology's sake, but in order to promote meaningful and effective learning experiences.
